How GovJobs works

Job boards copy listings from employers, and copies go stale. A posting that closed last week is still "open" on a board that scraped it. GovJobs does the opposite: we keep a directory of the pages where governments, agencies, and schools actually post their jobs, and we send you there.

What we list

Cities, counties and their departments, courts, special districts, transit agencies, utilities, school districts, county offices of education, community colleges, universities, and the state and federal presence in an area. For each one, every place it posts: its own careers page, and its listing on boards like GovernmentJobs.com, EdJoin, CalCareers, or USAJOBS — including deep links to categories like certificated and classified.

Why nothing here is stale

A checker revisits every listed page on a schedule. A page that stops answering is flagged; one that stays dead is hidden until it's fixed. Signed-in users can report a page that moved, and the fix goes out to everyone.

Who adds pages

Anyone with a confirmed government or school email address can submit a job page. Submissions are reviewed before they go live. Staff can also claim their organization; once approved, their changes publish immediately.

Where we are

We started with Orange County, California — every city, school district, college district, and agency in it. The plan is every US state and territory, and Canada.
